Despite the renewed onslaught of terrorists in the North-East against civilians, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed 1,910 corps members to Borno and Gombe States, for the 2014 batch ‘A’ Orientation Course to be hosted in Gombe State.

According to Head of the Public Relations Unit of the NYSC in Gombe, Miss Margaret Dakama, 1,090 corps members were for Gombe state while 820 were for Borno.

“Gombe State is once again hosting corps members deployed to Borno for the three-week orientation at Malam-Sidi Orientation Camp”, Dakama said in a release.

“Thee orientation will commence on 11th March 2014 and end on 1st April 2014. We ask for the support and cooperation of the people of Gombe State in directing participants to the venue of the orientation”.

She also said that Governor of the state, Ibrahim Dankwambo would be Special Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony.

It would be recalled that Gombe State hosted the orientation course of the Borno 2013 batch ‘C’ corps members.

Borno has been one of the north-eastern states where members of the Boko Haram Islamist sect have intensified attacks, killing hundreds since the turn of the year alone.
