The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) is set for an emergency meet during which it would discuss yesterday’s suspension of Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Convening the meeting in a statement on Friday, Director-General of NGF, Asishana Okauru said the two agenda for discussion are removal of the CBN governor and the dwindling revenues of states.

The meeting — only the third this year — will be presided over by Chairman of NGF and Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi; and will hold on Monday at the Rivers State Governor’s lodge, Asokoro, Abuja by 8pm prompt.

Jonathan suspended Sanusi yesterday on allegations of financial recklessness and misconduct, but analysts believe the suspension is more related to the governor’s outspoken natured, particularly his recent claim that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) failed to account for $20bn in oil revenue.
