Former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo says he is still a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite his recent frolics with the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Tuesday after commissioning a total of 16 projects on the invitation of Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, Obasanjo commended the projects, particularly the monorail; and downplayed criticisms of the projects, saying they in fact are a mark of progress.

“If there is] anything good you are doing and there is no opposition, try to take a second look at it”, he said.

“It is only Rivers that can run a monorail transport because of its power generation. With 700 megawatts, you can dedicate 10 megawatts to the monorail; so, the only state in the country that can do that for now is Rivers”.

While inaugurating the Buguma Fish farm in Asari Toru Local Government Area, which he also described as laudable, urging the state to maintain it, by ensuring preservative processing to avoid spoilage and wastage.

While speaking, Governor Amaechi explained that the farm was particularly sited in the area to develop and create employment opportunities for the people.

“The farm presently has 1,000 tonnes of fish, which are expected to produce 60 million tonnes per annum”, he noted.

Some other projects commissioned by the former president are the G.U.Ake Road, Okporo Road, Elekahia Rumuomasi Road, Songhai Farm in Bunu Tai, Banana plantation, Afam Power Station, and Elelenwo Sub-injection station. Health centres, hospitals, schools and some sports facilities were also commissioned.
