The Nigerian Army has announced the redeployment of 36 major-generals and 52 brigadier-generals.

Nineteen colonels similarly got posted to other places of assignment.

The affected officers include Brigadier Gen. A.B. Omozoje, who is now to heads the Guards Brigade; Brigadier Gen. A.O. Folorunsho, who is to move to 81 Division; Brigadier Gen. B.A. Akinroluyo, who goes to 3 Division; Brigadier Gen. A.G. Okunola, who goes to 82 Division; and Brigadier Gen. E.O. Udoh, who now heads the 7 Division.

Speaking with journalists on the postings, Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Olajide Laleye urged members of the public to desist from using the postings to overheat the polity.

“Insinuations and mischievous interpretation of a purely professional, unbiased and thoroughly-thought-out process should not be trivialised by undue and unfounded speculations”, he said.

“The Army is ever-committed to fighting against insurgency in the north-eastern part of the country. The operations are still ongoing and the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, would continue to combat terrorism in all its ramifications. It is also pertinent to reiterate that the media has an important role to play in the ongoing fight against terrorism”.
