A deputy title editor with the Newswatch newspapers, Toyin Obadina, who was shot by armed robbers at the wee hours of Saturday, has died.
Obadina died early on Sunday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos State, following serious gunshot injuries he suffered from the attack that occurred while he was on his way home from work on very early on Saturday.
He was attacked along the Itokin-Old Ijebu-Ode Road at about 1am while driving to his residence in the Parafa area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
He was said to have been shot twice in the stomach and had been in critical condition at the hospital.
Confirming his death this morning, one of his colleagues, Lekan Osiade said doctors in the hospital made frantic efforts to save his life, but their efforts yielded no result.
The late Obadina — who lived in Ikorodu with his family while working at the Lagos Island office of the newspaper owned by controversial businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim — is survived by his wife and children.
