After many years of divorce and a recent controversy surrounding the use of her ex-husband’s name, Fathia, former wife of actor Saheed Balogun, has finally dropped ‘Balogun’ from her name. She is now to be known as Fathia Williams.

Fathia, a Delta State indigene who is into the Yoruba genre of Nollywood, posted this on some social sites, including Twitter.

With this action of hers, it is believed that the legal tussle between her and her ex-husband over the use of his name has ended. She had last week disclosed that her former husband, a movie producer, sued her over the continued use of his name.

But Balogun came out to deny suing Fathia, even though he had boasted in an interview months ago that he would do everything legally possible to discourage his ex-wife from using the name.

While denying any legal action against his ex-wife, Saheed said: “I separated from my ex-wife Fathia Balogun in 2006, over seven years ago. Since we were legally married in court, we had to legal divorce in court to finalise the issue.

“The public is welcome to go to the Lagos High Court to verify these records. This has absolutely nothing to do with any name! I am not asking or forcing Fathia to stop using the name Balogun, as it is one of the most common Yoruba names.

“Furthermore, to set the record straight, Fathia and I had two children together, not three. Fathia’s first child is from a different husband that she later divorced before we were married. I never lied to anyone”.
