The Lagos State Government on Friday released the result of the DNA test conducted on 12 victims of the recent aircraft crash involving a chatter jet belonging to Associated Airlines.
The aircraft, which was on its way to Akure, Ondo State with the corpse of former Governor Olusegun Agagu, family members, friends and those attending the burial ceremony, crashed in Lagos on 3rd October 2013, killing at least 15 passengers and crew members.
Some of the victims, including Ondo State Commissioner for Tourism, Deji Falae; Chairman of MIC Funeral Services, Tunji Okusanya, and his son, Tunji Jnr., were burnt beyond recognition and needed to be identified through the test.
On Friday afternoon, families of the victims visited the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) where they filled forms as hospital sources confirmed that the tests results showed the true identities of the victims as they matched the samples made available by the families and relations of those who lost their lives in the crash.
Confirming the availability of the test results, the operator of Taiwo Ogunsola Service (TOS) Funeral, Mrs. Taiwo Ogunshola explained that her staff were working on the corpses, identifying them and preparing them. She promised to release the corpses immediately the company finished its work.
