But for providence, another air disaster would have happened in Kaduna on Sunday evening when an aircraft belonging to IRS Airline had difficulties landing due to some technical issues.

The plane, flight 3390, which was arriving in Kaduna from Lagos, got stuck with its 89 passengers, after it forcefully landed on the runway in what is believed to be a problem with the landing gear. The aircraft’s front tyres refused to come out during landing, forcing the pilot to land without them.  There was no casualty.

Managing Director of IRS, Yemi Dada confirmed the incident and explained that the pilots received a low hydraulic warning minutes before landing, and this affected the landing gear, nose wheel steering, brakes, cargo doors, thrust reversers and the flight controls.

“On final approach to Kaduna today on our flight 3390 with 89 passengers, our cockpit crew got a low hydraulic in system 1 warning and decided to take precautionary measures to ask for ground confirmation that all gears were down and locked,” he said.

“The crew proceeded to land but followed procedure to disembark on the runway and not taxi in accordance with the procedure.”

He said all passengers disembarked normally before the aircraft was towed to ramp. The passengers were assisted out with a crane, Huhuonline.com learnt.

He said the maintenance crew is already inspecting the aircraft to confirm the issue that caused the warning to the crew.
