The casket conveying the body of late former Governor of Ondo State, Chief Olusegun Agagu in the Associated Airlines chattered plane that crashed earlier in the morning has been recovered in one piece.

However, a son and daughter of the late former governor died in the crash. It is yet unconfirmed if another son, who was also feared to have been on the plane, was one of the five people confirmed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to have survived.

“We confirm today the crash of an Embraer 120 (plane) belonging to Associated airlines,” FAAN wrote in a statement. “The rescue operation commenced immediately with all the relevant agencies moving en masse to the crash site.”

The agency confirmed that 15 people died while the five who survived were receiving treatment at the hospital. The Associated Airlines charter flight took off at about 9:30 am from the domestic terminal of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport with more than 20 people aboard but crash-landed by the Sahara Group building metres away from the access gate of the airport, seconds after take-off.
