Governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi has sacked all his political appointees, including commissioners and other aides.
The sack was announced by the Governor on Monday at the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
Those affected include notable figures of the government, such as Secretary to the State Government, Akin Olajide; and Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Adeolu Akande.
The affected political appointees could not recover from the shock as they filed out of the chamber where the State Executive Council meeting held, since they had no inkling that they would be relieved of their appointments.
The governor thanked them for their contributions since their appointment, and then directed them to hand over to the permanent secretaries in their various ministries with immediate effect.
Director of Cabinet in the state’s civil service, Dotun Omokemi later confirmed the sack in a statement, saying the governor wanted people who could inject fresh ideas into his government in the quest to serve the state better.
