The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday dissolved the executive committee of its Kano State chapter.

In its place, it constituted a caretaker committee to run its affairs.

The dissolution was announced closely after Mohammed Abacha, son of late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, was received back into the party.

Abacha had joined PDP in 2010 but defected few months later to the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) but his stay in CPC was also for a few months.

While Alhaji Alhassan Kafayos was named Chairman of the caretaker committee, Mr. Andrew Musa was appointed Secretary; and they were immediately sworn in by National Legal Adviser of the party, Mr. Victor Kwom.

Unveiling the committee, National Organising Secretary of the party, Abubakar Mustapha disclosed that other members of the committee would be appointed in Kano during the week.

Explaining the dissolution, National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, said the tenure of the dissolved committee expired on 15th August 2013, thereby necessitating the constitution of an interim committee.

He said the party followed the rules and provisions of its constitution in inaugurating the caretaker committee, and then went on to encourage the committee to settle grievances among members in Kano.

He equally urged them to deliver the Kano State governorship election of 2015 to the PDP.
