Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar on Saturday married Zarha, daughter of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ibrahim Bunu.
Abubakar lost his wife, Maryam, last year.
The Islamic wedding, better known as Fatiha, took place at the National Mosque, Abuja and was conducted by Chief Imam of the mosque, Ustaz Musa Mohammed. The reception was held at the ThisDay Dome in Abuja.
Prominent Nigerians who attended the wedding include Vice-President Namadi Sambo; Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalam Abubakar; current FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed; former Chief Security Officer to late Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha; and businessmen Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola
Others include Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State; Acting Governor of Taraba, Garba Umar; Senators Andy Uba and Paulinus Igwe; former Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Akin Oshuntokun; senators and members of the House of Representatives.
Speaking for the family of the bride, Adamu Bello said the turnout for the marriage was impressive and showed that the inspector-general is loved. He urged the couple to make the marriage successful by living according to Islamic tenets.
