A contract for comprehensive underwater inspection, assessment and survey of the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge worth N250m was on Wednesday approved by the Federal Executive Council.

The contract approval came following reports of excessive vibration of the bridge under heavy traffic.

Also approved was a bill for the effective detection, prevention, prohibition and prosecution of cybercrimes in the country.

According to Minister of Information, Mr Labaran maku, the council at the meeting, which was chaired by President Goodluck Jonathan, also approved an international development association loan of $200m for Fadama farmers in the country.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina who was also part of the post-meeting media briefing revealed that more than 370,000 farmers will benefit from the Fadama project which will impact on 1.7m beneficiaries, half of whom are women farmers.

Akinwumi assured that the loan facility would strengthen the farmers associations in the Fadama areas and as well bolster crop production in the country
