Corrupt Police officers will be identified and replaced with fresh recruits in order to sanitise the country’s security system, Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar has said.
Speaking during the second Conference of Heads of Zonal and State Criminal Investigation Departments in Abuja, Abubakar pledged his determination to expunge all corrupt officers currently in the Nigeria Police Force. “Police officers have to be discipline and live above board at all times,” he said.
Also speaking, Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of investigation, Mr. Peter Gana lauded the organisation the conference, saying it would help attendants stay abreast of new and emerging trends in investigation and prosecution of cases, which will in turn help in resolving lots of pending criminal cases in the country.
He emphasised the need for diligent investigation and prosecution of cases, saying any police officer such as the one caught was on video tape soliciting bribe from a motorist, will be booted out of the force.
