Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Lloyd has been detained by the Police High Command over the crisis that engulfed the Rivers State House of Assembly, an off-shoot of the political tussle between the State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and President Goodluck Jonathan.

The crisis had seen five renegade members of the House take over activities and claiming to have impeached the principal officers after chasing the 27 members loyal to the governor. Chidi Lloyd was thereafter declared wanted by the Police in Rivers State, claiming the lawmaker had dishonoured previous invitations.

However confirming his detention on Wednesday in a statement signed and issued by the Deputy Force Public Relations officer, CSP Frank Mba, the Police High Command said Hon Chidi Lloyd reported at the Force CID, Force Headquarters, Abuja on the 23rd July, 2013, in response to an earlier invitation.

According to the Police, lawmaker arrived at the Force Headquarters at about 4.00pm with his lawyers, but he is currently helping Police in the investigation aimed at finding out the circumstances surrounding the incident that happened at the State Assembly.

The Police disclosed that Lloyd had been cooperating with the officers since his appearance yesterday and that the investigation was continuing.
