The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would always abide by the rule of law and sanctity of justice in its quest for socioeconomic development of the country so that it can compete with the rest of the world, National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has said.

Tukur, who made the pledge on Monday in Abuja while swearing-in members of PDP’s interim National Working Committee (NWC) stated that the inauguration became necessary following the resignation of former members of the NWC.

“The former national officers had to leave their respective offices because of INEC’s observation about irregularities that characterised the National Convention held in March 2012,” he said.

“We decided to replace members of NWC who resigned their respective positions immediately in order not to allow a vacuum. This is the usual practice in the party since it came into existence as a political party in Nigeria.

Tukur assured that members of the interim NWC would work hard towards moving the party forward ensuring that its affairs are properly piloted. He added that they would also abide strictly by the party’s Constitution and the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).

“PDP has been a responsive and responsible party that has always insisted on good governance and will not involve itself in anything illegal,” the chairman said, adding that the party would remain unwavering in its commitment to the mandate given to it by the people.

He described PDP as a party that continues to wax stronger and therefore urged members to remain loyal to its ideals.

Those who took oath of office in acting capacities include Deputy National Chairman, Chibudom Nwuche; National Secretary, Dr Remi Akintoye; Deputy National Secretary, Sen. Emma Agboti; and National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf.
