There is no respite for beleaguered Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, as barely 48 hours after the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to him was sacked by an Abuja High Court, Huhuonline.com has learnt that the newly sworn-in leadership, led by Hon Felix Obuah and having the backing of Oga and Madam at the top, are fine-tuning plans to kick the governor out of office before the expiration of his tenure and hand him over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
To this end, all the pretenders and contenders from Rivers State who have an axe to grind with Governor Rotimi Amaechi are lining up to take a pound of flesh from him and at same time prove their loyalty to Oga and Madam at the top.
Principal actors in this soap opera about to play out are Nyeson Wike, former chief of staff to Rotimi Amaechi and incumbent minister of education; Sergeant Awuse, Prince Uche Secondis; and Austin Okpara, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
Others are select members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, namely Hon. Okey Chinda, representing Obio Okpo Local government Area; Hon. Martin Amahule Chike(Obio/A kpo 1 LGA); Evan Bipi (Ogu /Bolo LGA); Victor Ihunwo (Port Harcourt Area LGA); Hon. Kelechi Godspower Worgu (Omuma LGA); and the 29 members of the EXCO that was legitimized by the PDP( NWC) on Tuesday.
Our findings reveal that the plot, which is to commence soon, will be a two-prong approach. The first is to rally all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and offer them money to impeach incumbent Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Amachree Otelemaba Asari-Toru, who is considered weak but pro-Ameachi, and install someone from the anti-Amaechi camp.
The second approach is that the anti-Amaechi Speaker will institute impeachment proceedings against Governor Amaechi. Once Amaechi is impeached, his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, who is a surrogate of Prince Uche Sekondis, will be sworn in.
Huhuonline.com understands that at the expiration of his, tenure Engr Ikuru will not seek reelection but will ensure that Wike emerges as winner of the primaries in 2015. Mr. Ikuru will then be rewarded with a seat in the Senate or nominated for a ministerial appointment.
Nyeson Wike’s anger, Huhuonline.com learnt, stems from Amaechi’s refusal to back his senatorial ambition, preferring Senator Magnus Abe, who sources reveals is being groomed to succeed Rotimi Amaechi.
In the same vien, the National Security Adviser on Thursday summoned Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, Rivers State Commissioner for Information for questioning for releasing classified information to the public.
Penultimate week, Mrs Ibim Semenitari while defending the purchase of the Aircrafts by River State linked the office of the National Security office to the purchases
Excerpt from her press statement reads:
“The helicopters, 2 bell 412 helicopters with camera payload for aerial surveillance of Rivers State were purchased as part of the state government’s collaboration with the federal government and its support for the security agencies in the state.”
“The total cost of the helicopters was 29 million USD.The Federal Government of Nigeria through the office of the National Security Adviser paid 15 million USD, while the Rivers State Government paid the balance. The Federal Government granted duty waiver.”
