A Federal High Court sitting in Gombe, Gombe State and presided over by Justice Babatunde Quadri on Friday April 12, 2013 dismissed the application brought by former Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Danjuma Muhammad Goje and four others to transfer their cases to Abuja.

In his ruling, Justice Quadri took judicial notice of earlier interlocutory applications brought before the court by the accused persons and stated that the transfer application was yet another ploy to delay trial and granting it will not serve the course of justice.

The judge further ruled that there is no special circumstance to warrant the granting of such relief, as the security situation in Gombe is not as the applicants portrayed, adding that no one has been attacked neither has any report of harassment from counsels or court officials gotten to him.

The accused persons were first arraigned on 17th October 2011 on conspiracy, fraud and money laundering charges. The court adjourned till 14th and 15th May 2013, for continuation of hearing.
