The police in Adamawa State have said the Saturday attack by suspected terrorists on a bank, a prison, a police station and a drinking bar in Ganye, Adamawa state, claimed the lives of 25 residents of the state including a Chief Warder, a policeman and a top politician in the area.

They reportedly went away with huge sum of money after the attack on the bank.

The attackers had used various deadly instrument including rocket propelled grenades, other explosives and assault rifles in their assault on the police station resulting in serious confusion in the state since the incident happened.

According to the police, the gunmen attacked the prison, set free an unspecified number of prisoners, looted a bank and attacked an open-air drinking bar, killed the prison official and the policeman whose names were not given.

The Adamawa state Police Commissioner, Mohammed Ibrahim, who made this disclosure after the police took a toll of the casualty figure, said: “we have 25 dead from yesterday’s attacks in Ganye, which included a Chief Prison Warder, a policeman and a prominent politician.”

Breaking the figure, he said that seven people were shot dead in the drinking bar, six near the bank, while others were gunned down either outside their homes or on the streets
