Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha on Thursday reshuffled his cabinet, moving seven commissioners and merging some ministries.
According to the state government, the essence of the exercise is to ensure efficiency on the part of political office holders in the state and enhance service delivery by the government.
The reshuffle, announced in a statement issued in Owerri by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chinedu Offor at the end of the State Executive Council meeting, sees Offor move to take charge of the Culture and Tourism ministry.
Also, former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro is now the Commissioner for Community Government while former Commissioner for Economic Planning, Nic Opara-Ndudu, will now oversee the Ministry of Works and Transport.
By the statement, Deputy Governor of the state, Jude Agbaso ceases to double as Commissioner for Works while former Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning, Uche Nwosu has been named the new Commissioner for Lands and Housing.
Former Commissioner for Special Duties, Iheanyi Nwachukwu is now Commissioner for Public Utilities, Public Safety and Youth Empowerment.
While Chima Iwuchukwu, who headed the Community Government, now oversees Planning. Charles Onuoha, former Commissioner for Housing, is now to oversee the Ministry for Special Duties.
