The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Rose Chinyere Uzoma has been retired from the service with immediate effect.

Although The Federal Government gave no reason for its action, it is believed to be connected with the agency’s recent recruitment exercise, which is alleged to have been fraught with irregularities and controversies.

Her retirement on Tuesday was conveyed to her in a letter by Director/Secretary, Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB), Dr. R. K Attahiru, who signed on behalf of Minister of Interior and Chairman of CDFIPB, Comrade Abba Moro.

Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr. Rilwan Bala Musa will take Uzoma’s place in acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Comptroller General by President Goodluck Jonathan.
