Alhaji Jalo Ganga, the member of Gombe State House of Assembly who was kidnapped on Sunday, has been released.
Ganga was released late on Wednesday. The unknown gunmen who abducted him stormed his residence on a motorcycle early Sunday morning, at about 5am, while he was going for morning prayers. He was reported to have cried helplessly for help before his abductors whisked him away.
His younger brother, Malam Abdulkadir Mohammed-Yelwa, who announced the development to journalists on Thursday in the lawmaker’s house, disclosed that he came home on a motorcycle at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday but failed to offer information on whether the family paid a ransom or not.
“We are very happy seeing our brother. He has returned and met with his family; but right now he is not at home,” he said.
“He came back and told people not to worry that he had arrived safely. May be later in the day or tomorrow, you will see him and talk with him. We thank everybody who helped us in prayers.”
As expected, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Gombe State Police Commang, Mr. Fwaje Atajiri, confirmed the lawmaker’s release, saying it was “unconditional.”
