Huhuonline.com understands that the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada has been involved in a fatal accident along lokoja – Ajoakuta road.
The ADC to the Governor, an assistant superintendent of police, ASP Idris Mohammed is reported to have died on the spot while the Governor Idris wada suffered a bone fracture in his legs.
A statement issued by Alhaji Bologi Yabagi, the Kogi State Commissioner of Information, said,’’ the convoy of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada has been involved in a ghastly accident.
The Governor survived the road mishap and is in stable condition.”
He stated that, “Sadly however, the governor’s Aide de Camp ADC,Idris Mohamed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police died on the spot.”
However, Gov. Idris Wada, who sustained multiple fractures in the fatal car crash arrived Abuja yesterday evening and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
He was evacuated in an ambulance from the Lokoja Specialist Hospital to Abuja where he is being watched preparatory to be flown abroad for treatment .
But government officials claim he is in a stable condition.His driver is said to be unconscious.
Eyewitnesses account of the accident, said, that Wada’s SUV lost a tyre and rolled over severally into the bush at about 2.30 PM at a spot near Elete Emi Woro between Prime Polytechnic and Salem University in Ajaokuta Lokoja Government Area of the state.
Other officials in the entourage rescued the governor and two other occupants; ADC and driver travelling in the bullet proofed SUV from the bush.
They were immediately rushed to the Specialist hospital Lokoja where the ADC, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) was confirmed dead.
The Governor was returning from the annual Igala Education submit at Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of the state.
