Sylvanus, who is currently serving in the administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State as Special Assistant on Public Affairs, was abducted in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Saturday night and taken to an unknown destination.

While details of the kidnap incident are still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, sources within the entertainment industry told Huhuonline.com that the kidnappers have already initiated communication with certain people in the industry, using the victim’s telephone to demand a N100m as ransom.

“She was kidnapped late on Saturday; and till now, we can’t really tell where they have taken her to,” one of her colleagues said. “But they contacted one of us today and informed us that she was in safe hands and would be protected as long as we cooperate with them. The kidnappers said they were concerned about the money and not the life of the victim.”

The Imo State government is yet to make an official statement on the incident.

Once a tool employed by Niger Delta militants in the South-South to fleece oil workers of hard currency in protest of years of degradation and neglect in the region, kidnapping in the country has steadily grown into an all-encompassing thriving business, as abductors now targeting political office holders and rich businessmen in various parts of the country.
