A Monday morning bomb explosion at Kantin Kwari Junction, near the famed Kantin Kware Textile Market in Kano has left a traffic warden, a Hisbah official and a staff of the Kano State Transport Regulation Agency severely injured, Huhuonline.com can confirm.
The bomb, which was planted close to a spot where Federal Road Safety, Police and other security agents have a post, went off at about 9am, and the three victims are currently receiving medical attention at the Accident and Emergency section of the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano.
According to an eyewitness, the bomb exploded at a time when many people were still at home, else the consequence would have been more severe, especially as many traders would have been hit.
“As usual, the officials were performing their official duties when the explosion occurred; and almost immediately, officials of the Joint Task Force (JTF) arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area,” he said.
Public Relations Officer of the Police in the state, ASP Magaji Majiya confirmed the tragedy, saying the bomb was planted near the Eid praying ground very close to the Kantin Kware junction. He added that the security officials would remain undeterred in executing their responsibilities.
The JTF arrived at the scene after the blast, and cordoned off the area.
