A total of 15 people have now died from Sunday morning’s bombing attacks on St Andrew Military Protestant Church inside the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, Commandant of the College, AVM Abdullahi Kureh has said.

Multiple military sources had confirmed 11 deaths and 30 injuries as at first count, after two suicide bombers drove into the barracks within 10 minutes apart and aimed straight for the church.

However, speaking on Monday with Governor Patrick Yakowa, who was visiting the site of the attack in Jaji, Igabi Local Government Area of the state, Kureh confirmed that four more people had passed on.

He condemned the attack, promising that security in the country would be upgraded to prevent future occurrences, as no meaningful development can be achieved in the country without peace.

Yakowa sympathised with families of victims of the attacks, which he branded as “acts of terrorism and religious extremism aimed at destroying the country.”

He urged security agencies, traditional leaders, religious institutions and other groups to join forces in combating terrorists in the country. He equally begged members of the Boko Haram Islamist sect to embrace peace because the government is ready to dialogue with them.
